Dogs Say the Funniest Things

January 7, 2009 by Life in the Highlands

Last night I told the kids to do something cute or say something funny so I could write a blog post about it. My request was met with blank stares and silence. Although I think someone sometime at dinner might have said, “pass the salt.”

My 9 year old daughter did volunteer to let me use the pictures she’d taken with her new camera.

That’s our dog Hershey. She’s a 13 year old Irish Setter/Lab mix. Notice the contrast of the black dog against the white snow. Except for that red thing on the side. We probably don’t want to know what that is.

Here’s Hershey again:

Notice the juxtaposition of her black fur next to the dirty hole that our other dog dug. If you look closely, you can see the disgust on Hershey’s face. Hershey thinks our other dog, Graham Cracker, is annoying.

Partly because of stuff like this:

It used to be a sandal, until Graham ate it for dinner. Here’s dessert:

Gnome feet. Considered a delicacy by all discerning dogs.

Despite his eating habits, we love Graham Cracker. He’s a year and a half old Red Heeler/German Shepherd/Lab mix. We took him to puppy training, so he does all kinds of tricks. On command, he will sit, shake, give high-fives, lay down, jump through a hula hoop, and give kisses. His specialty:

Sitting on a table. I’ll bet your dog can’t do that.

Those last two pictures were taken almost a year ago by my 12 year old daughter.

One final picture of Graham:

He’s actually chewing on something he’s allowed to. Even though the shoes right next to him must be tempting.

They probably just needed some salt.

If only he could ask for some. Then I’d really have something to blog about.

I’ll bet my dog would love some little gnome feet right about now…

And heeler/shepard/lab mix? Can we say crazy energy? You must be one patient (dog loving) woman!

With much crazy energy comes great personality. Also, we have an acre, so he has lots of room to run.
