I live in what I think is one of the prettiest places. That picture in the header of this blog is the view from my back yard. The longer I live here, the more I know that I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
But here’s another place I wouldn’t mind living. If I had absolutely had to.
It’s called Cinque Terre, and it is off the coast of Italy. It is breathtakingly beautiful.
During the two weeks I recently spent in Italy, I was only able to visit Cinque Terre for two hours.
That’s right. Two hours.
And it took us seven hours to get there.
We were staying at a hotel in Milan, and a local Italian told us that it only took a couple of hours to get from Milan to Cinque Terre by car. He said it shouldn’t take us much longer by train, which is how we planned to travel.
But after arriving at the train station, we realized that the first train we needed to catch didn’t leave for an hour. And then it was delayed another half hour. So after an hour and a half wait and a two hour train ride, we discovered that the second train was also going to be a two hour train ride (even though it was only going a fraction of the distance of the first train), because it made so many stops.
But after seven hours of waiting and traveling, this is what we saw:
And this:
Well worth the trip, even if we were only able to stay there for two hours before we had to catch the train back to Milan.
But I could definitely live there. How ’bout you?
